By foot - about 15 to 20 minutes from Inverness city centre

By car - about 5 minutes from Inverness city centre
The nearest parking is available at Telford Street Retail Park ( IV3 5LU ) just before the white Muirtown Swing Bridge. We do have a small access but please note it is for drop off and disabled access only.
Take the A82 from Inverness followed by the A862. Continue until you're near the Caledonian Canal and white swing bridge.The nearest parking is available here at Telford Street Retail Park.
Cross the swing bridge and continue forward past the traffic lights until you see the museum on your right hand side, just before the Esso petrol station. See the map at the bottom of the page for more information.
The brown signs below may also be helpful to you but please note some signs may be covered by trees so please only use the signs in tandem with the directions provided. Look for road signs with the brown thistle as well as brown signs with the blue thistle that say 'Moray Firth Tourist Route North'. The last sign takes you just before the swing bridge.

From the City Centre you can take either a 8A bus from the outer end of Academy Street, beside PentaHotel or a 28 bus from the Post Office on Queensgate.
With the 8A get off at the Co-Op on Carsegate Road. Then cross and go up the hill to the white swing bridge. Go straight on at Clachnaharry Road traffic lights until you find museum on your right.
With the 28 get off at Clachnaharry Road where you'll find the museum just before Esso ( Black Park Filling Station ) To return to the City Centre with the 28, a bus stop is available directly opposite the Esso petrol station.
